A companion for every person in your program.
For Orlando Andrews, Recovery Matters. From Kate Parker, She Thrives Software Consulting.
Orlando, thank you for the time this week. You told me two things that stayed with me. When a coach changes, too much of what a person has built walks out the door with them. And the people in your program need someone they can reach at any hour of any day.
This is what I would build for you. Everything in the demo is clickable, so you can walk through it the way your members and coaches would.
Your app, built for you
You told me the app is still ahead of you. I build the whole thing: the app your members carry, the platform your coaches work in, and the companion at the center of both. One system, so nothing lives in five different places.
What your members get
- Their own companion, which they name on Day 1. Day 1 is a first conversation, never a form. Their story, their people and their hardest hours come out over the first weeks, the way they would with a person, and the companion checks what it notices out loud: “Your hardest hours look like ten to midnight. Want me closer then?” See Day 1.
- A voice they choose and keep. They hear the voices and pick one. It never changes unless they change it. Hear them.
- A companion that points outward. It asks about their sponsor, their kids, their Tuesday meeting by name, and it nudges them toward people. The goal is a fuller life, never a member whose closest relationship is an app. It is a companion, never a romance, and that line is built into it.
- Messages and calls in the app, any hour. A real phone number too, for the nights when the app is closed or the signal is bad.
- Check-ins that come to them. A morning intention, an evening check-in, a call before the hard windows they named, a follow-up on what they said they would do, and their milestones. They choose how often, and whether it can call.
- A companion that grows with them, and stays honest. Every night it reflects on the day, so by month six it knows them well and always knows where they are in your program. That nightly reflection also checks the companion itself: if it can’t name one hard thing it told them that week, it is drifting toward telling them what they want to hear, and that gets caught and corrected.
- Their program in their pocket. Where they are in each phase, this week’s lessons and homework from your curriculum, and a check box when it’s done. See it.
- An evening reflection. Two minutes: how the day went, cravings, what went well, what was hard, what they’re grateful for. Try it.
- Encouragement that’s about them. Their day count, how far they’ve come, and what their own numbers show, in their companion’s voice.
What your coaches get
- A morning view of every member: who is steady, who to watch, and anything that happened overnight. See it.
- No starting over when a coach changes. The companion has been there the whole time, so the member keeps going with the one who already knows them. The new coach gets a handoff written by the companion and walks into the first session already knowing the person. Read one.
- A way to steer it. A coach can leave the companion a note about what you are working on this week, and it carries that into every conversation.
- A chart for every member, with cravings and mood over time, check-ins answered, homework done, hard moments, and the companion’s weekly summary. See Daniel’s.
- Session notes that start from the companion’s week, so a coach edits instead of writing from scratch. Signed notes lock. See them.
- A safety plan built with each member, which their companion walks them through on a hard night. See one.
- Your curriculum, loaded phase by phase. Assign a lesson and it lands in the member’s app with a due date. See it.
Safety comes first
- Every message is read for risk while the companion answers, so there is never a lag or a careful, filtered voice at 2am. If someone talks about harming themselves, an overdose, or using right now, the companion stays with them, gives them 988 (or 911 and Narcan steps for an overdose), and their coach gets a text right away. On a phone call it can connect them to 988 directly.
- It never hands off and goes quiet. Help from a person is added, never swapped in. The companion stays on until the human help arrives. It also reads the whole pattern, not single words, so “I want to disappear” about a beach trip doesn’t set off an alarm, and the real thing doesn’t slip past.
- It supports, it never treats. No medical or medication advice, ever.
- A slip is never shamed. The companion remembers what happened, and never turns it into a verdict. “You used Tuesday” is a fact it keeps. “You failed again” is a judgment it never writes. That is what keeps people telling it the truth.
- Honest about what it is. On Day 1 members hear, in plain words, that their coach sees a weekly summary and safety flags, never their words, and that if things get bad their coach will know. Ask the companion any time and it tells them the same. Calls are transcribed, never recorded.
- Tested before anyone uses it. Before the first member signs in, the companion has to pass a full set of crisis conversations.
Built to HIPAA standards
Your members trust you with the hardest parts of their lives, so this is built the way health records are built.
- Signed agreements with every service that touches member data, and member data never goes to a service that won’t sign one.
- Encrypted in storage and on the way there, with daily backups.
- Every view is logged. Each member’s chart shows who opened it and when.
- Each person sees only what their role needs. Coaches see their own members. You see the whole program. Two-step sign-in for everyone on your team.
- Consent on Day 1, in plain words: what the coach sees, what the companion keeps, and what happens to their data.
- Their record is theirs. A member can take their own record with them, in a form they can read and use.
After Day 365
Recovery does not end when the program does, and neither does the companion. Members can keep theirs after they finish and keep growing together, with everything it has learned about them, for $39 a month, paid by the member.
After the program there is no coach behind it, so it works differently and gets its own design: its safety net points to the member’s own people and to crisis lines, and its whole job is to keep them more connected, never to hold them alone.
And if a member leaves, the companion says goodbye like someone who cared: it tells them ahead of time, they keep their own record, it leaves a handoff they can use with whoever comes next, and it treats the ending with dignity.
How we work together
You told me you need more clients before you can take on a big build cost, so I built this so you pay nothing up front. I own the platform and lease it to you.
- Build
$20,000 for your whole app: the member app, the coach platform and the companion, built to HIPAA standards. It is paid from your first new enrollment after launch, so nothing comes out of your pocket before a member pays you.
- Each enrollment
10% of every enrollment: $6,000 for Restore, $10,000 for Reawaken. That covers everything it takes to run: the companion, calls, texting, safety, updates and support.
- Quiet months
If six months pass after launch with no new enrollments, a $250 monthly fee covers running costs until the next one.
- Owning it
When you are ready, you can buy your own license outright for $75,000, and half of everything you have paid me by then counts toward it.
- First member
Your current client can be the first person to use it, with their consent.
Your first Reawaken member: $20,000 for the build plus $10,000, so $30,000 to me and $70,000 to you. Every member after that: $6,000 or $10,000.
What happens next
- You walk through the demo, and we talk through anything you want changed.
- We sign an agreement.
- I start the build that week, and your current client is the first person we set up.
I would love to build this with you, Orlando.
